This little guy is "Scooter". I found him at 8 days old, cold and stiff. I was pretty sure he was dead but brought him in the house and put him on a heating pad. In about 10 minutes he started moving some and in about 30 minutes, he was peeping for food. He "scooted" around a lot and I figured that's how he got out from under Dad and got so cold in the first place. So of course I had to name him Scooter. I put him under a pair of our race birds and they are now raising him. The picture below is at 10 days of age.
Unfortunately, I found his little sibling the next day, uncovered and cold. I brought that one in to try to revive it but it had been cold too long and never came around.

This is Scooter and his girlfriend Dory. Dory is a 2006 homer that was very tiny when hatched and had a few problems. I knew she would never make a race bird, so she became Scooters new love. They simply adore each other.
Scooter and Dory are parents now.
This morning, (Aug 1st, 2008) I went to get Scooter and Dory's water and food and when I opened the coop, I couldn't believe my eyes. There was this tiny little fuzz ball.
These two have been sitting on dummy eggs for at least the last year. I used to replace the eggs with dummy eggs, but didn't one time and discovered the eggs weren't fertile. The next set wasn't fertile either and the next.............so basically I quite switching the eggs. I'd let them sit and when they walked away, toss them out into the woods and wait for her to lay the next set. Well, all of that backfired this morning. They now have one baby. The other egg was clear. I'll be updating with pictures as this little one grows. Here it is at about 7 hours old.
